Once Honda had demonstrated the profitability of the ‘step-thru’ moped, every other major Japanese manufacturer followed suit, Suzuki’s first such offering, the M30, appearing in 1963. The Suzuki M30 was similar in almost every respect to the Honda Cub, with the exception of its piston-ported two-stroke engine, and ran on unchanged until 1966 when it was superseded by the U50, which differed mainly by virtue of its disc-valve motor and pumped (as opposed to petroil) lubrication. This Suzuki U50 displays a total of 2,285 miles on the odometer and remains in remarkably original and complete condition. Offered without documents, it is a rare survivor of the type, most of its fellows having long since gone to the crusher.
