Jesuit device on title, printer’s device on final verso. Full-page engraved portrait of St Ubaldo, woodcuts of biblical scenes and of other saints. (Some browning and spotting, waterstaining to title and quires A-B.) Contemporary limp vellum (covers crinkled and slightly shrivelled, rather worn). Provenance : Mathurius (signature on title) – contemporary manuscript notes on front and rear endpapers. AN IMPORTANT MANUAL OF EXORCISM. Olivieri was the official exorcist at the church of St Ubaldo in Perugia. This compilation of prayers, exhortations and apocalyptic scriptures was intended to promote the cult of this local saint and his exorcising function. FIRST EDITION.
