Old calf. Condition : some browning, plates at p.100 and 218 smaller but apparently as issued, very occasional small tears; binding worn, rebacked but covers now detached. Provenance : Society of Writers to the Signet (stamp on both covers). first edition of this important work on africa , published by Ogilby, but largely based on Olfert Dapper’s work. Here with the series title, and the dedication to and portrait of Charles II. Ogilby mentions his intention to publish “a New Model of the Universe, an English Atlas” (dedication). Wing O163.
