S.l., s.n., s.d. 9 pp. First and only edition of this rare and curious document concerning the lawsuit which was brought against the famous man-midwife Baudelocque by the dreaded "supposed doctor-obstetrician" Sacombe following the death of Madame Tardieu during her delivery. She was the wife of the famous French engraver Pierre Alexandre Tardieu (1756-1844). During the delivery Baudelocque was forced to execute a cephalotripsy which could not prevent the death of the mother. Sacombe, founder of an anti-Caesarean school, opposed the use of instruments and Caesarean section; he was an supporter of midwives and declared enemy of Baudelocque. He accused Baudelocque of assassination and distributed defamatory writings including an "Avis aux femmes enceintes". Baudelocque was forced to bring Sacombe to justice and was defended by G.G. Delamalle (1752-1834), a famous lawyer and "bâtonnier". In the end Sacombe was sentenced for slander. The other people involved in this trial were recognised as "plus ou moins coupables d'avoir adhéré aux vues, aux procédés et aux libellés du docteur Sacombe". Ref. BnF, COPAC (first part only !).
