Ivancich, further within clear protective wrapper, publisher's colophon and 'A' to copyright page, half-titles, 308pp; The first of Hemmingway's novels to receive negative press and reviews; Islands in the Stream. 1970. 8vo, (235 x 160mm), original green cloth with author's signature in gilt to upper cover, gilt lettering with black panel to spine, dust-jacket unclipped, priced $10, design by Paul Bacon, further within clear protective wrapper, yellow map illustrated e/ps., by Sam Bryant, half-title, 466pp. The first of the author's novels published posthumously, originally written to revive his reputation after the negative reviews of 'Across the River and Into the Trees (Qty. 4). Condition Report: 1. A Farewell to Arms - cloth marked, corners scuffed, spine worn and bumped head/tail, gold label to front scratched, part gold label to spine with loss to black lettering, clean bright facsimile dust-jacket, toning to pages, o/w. clean internally. 2. A Moveable Feast - bright boards with light marks to cloth, corners marginally scuffed, spine lower edge worn, dust-jacket worn to lower edge with chips head/ tail of spine and light foxing to inside of wrapper, o/w. clean internally. 3. Across the River and Into the Trees - light marks to cloth, corners scuffed, spine bumped head/tail, dust-jacket with toning to edges of inside flaps, chips to cover edges and lower spine, toning and light foxing to e/ps., o/w. internally clean. 4. Islands in the Stream - light marks to cloth, corners a little scuffed, spine with marginal wear head/tail, clean bright dust-jacket with minor wear head/tail of spine, o/w. internally clean, a very good copy.
