ƟAhmad Wasif Efendi, Majalis Al-Athar wa Haqa'iq al-Akhbar (A History of the Ottoman Empire), two volumes in one, printed in Ottoman Turkish [probably Constantinople, dated 1246 AH (1830-31 AD)] two volumes bound in one, complete, fihrists (indexes) appearing before each part, joints cracked with some leaves loose, a few faint scattered spots, final free endpaper torn with loss, small ex libris and paper label pasted to upper pastedown, 290 by 200mm.; contemporary morocco, spine cracked and boards scuffed with losses to leather, worn Provenance: from the Mohamed Makiya Collection, their ‘107/200’. This is a later copy of Effendi's annals of the Ottoman Empire, with extracts by Ahmed Resmi Haji. The text was first printed in Scutari in 1804, with a German translation of the work appearing in Berlin in 1809. Ɵ Indicates that the lot is subject to buyer’s premium of 25% exclusive of VAT (0% VAT).
