Beschreibung:

"Nova Totius Terrarum Orbis Tabula". Alt grenzkolor. (121)
Erster Zustand. – Shirley 495: "Justus Danckert’s imprint is to be found on two single-sheet world maps, both copied from De Wit’s maritime world map of 1668 (Entry 444). De Wit’s graphic corner scenes showing war and destruction, the heavens, husbandry and peace, and a maritime view with a spouting whale are all repeated, but engraved by a less masterly hand. In Danckert’s first plate the geographical details are unchanged from 1668; in the second plate (listed under Entry 529, c. 1685) the hemispheres have been redrawn and there is a different title." Engraved map in contemporary outline hand colouring in 2 hemispheres, 2 pole projections in contemporary outline hand colouring and rich hand coloured figurative staffage in the corners, by J. Danckerts at Amsterdam, around 1680. 47,5 x 55 cm. – Some small pin pricks at blank corners; minor loss of illustration in the lower right allegorical illustration and in the margin of the pole projection (opposite the paper of the defects), small tear in lower margin, small damages at joint, slightly soiled, a little browned. – Recto and verso (double) flatly stamped: "Geographisches Seminar der k. Technischen Hochschule München" with royal Bavarian coat-of-arms in oval framing (not by Lugt).
