Lot of 7. A ninth plate tintype of a gentleman with an 1861 note on Rhode Island stationary from Richard Diekins at Camp Pierpont to his friend. There are three current listings for daguerreotypist with the last name Rehn including Issac Rehn, the man credited for the first ambrotype in the United States. The two remaining Rehn's worked with Issac. A quarter plate painted photograph in excellent condition with a mat stamped by Gurney & Fredricks, 349 Broadway. The photographer, Jeremiah Gurney was a jeweler turned daguerreotypist. He exhibited his work at the American Institute Fair in New York City in 1850.
