Beschreibung:

WAUGH, Evelyn (1903-1966). Ninety-Two Days. London: Duckworth, 1934. First edition of Waugh’s third travel book in the rare dust-jacket. It describes a 92-day adventure in Latin America through British Guiana and into Brazil, illustrated with Waugh’s photographs: '… through unmapped country sparsely inhabited by cattle-ranchers and Indians. He even reached Boa Vista on the Rio Branco in Brazil, before he was obliged to turn back and find his way on foot across the Paharaima Mountains and by canoe down the rivers […] it offers a real vision of ranch life on the Savannah, of a lonely missionary outpost, of a decaying Brazilian township, of Indian hill villages, and of a diamond prospector’s camp in the depths of the forest' (dust-jacket blurb). Davis 10. Octavo. Photographic frontispiece of the author, 23 photographic plates from photographs taken by the author, folding map of ‘British Guiana and part of the Brazilian Savannah showing the author’s route’, 2 pages of publisher’s advertisements at end (very slight browning to preliminary and end leaves). Original blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt (very small white mark to lower cover, upper cover with two small indents, spine ends faintly bruised). Original dust-jacket with photographic image of the author on upper panel (45mm closed tear to upper panel [not touching text or image], somewhat frayed and chipped at edges, lightly dust-stained).
