Leipzig: Insel-Verlag, 1908. 4 parts in one volume, 2° (372 x 250mm). Double-page ornamental title, printed title with vignette, each part with separate title, head- and tail-pieces, all printed in purple and gold, after designs by Henry van der Velde, text printed in black and gold, type designed in 1900 by G. Lemmen. (Small circular purple stamp "Z XIX" in lower margin of title of first part, a few mainly marginal spots.) Original vellum, yapp edges, gilt vignette on front cover, spine gilt, both after designs by Henry van der Welde, top edges gilt others uncut (small split at head of joint, light spotting, sides with a few creases).

Beautifully illustrated by the Belgian architect and designer Henry van der Velde who ranks with his compatriot Victor Horta as an originator of the Art Nouveau style, characterized by long sinuous lines derived from naturalistic forms.
