(13 x 9in.), contemporary red morocco, each cover with a gilt border and a large central lozenge made up of a variety of massed small tools including crowns, stars, flowers, sunbursts and others, spine similarly gilt in six of the seven compartments, board edges and turn-ins with a large zigzag roll, g.e., BY JOHN BRINDLEY, rebacked preserving original backstrip with a new label, spine broken, upper cover detached, the repair leather in poor state, corners worn, some abrasions, most evident on the lower cover, some faint spotting throughout. THIRD EDITION, the last published in the author's lifetime and the basis for all subsequent editions, ONE OF 50 LARGEST PAPER COPIES ON SUPERFINE ROYAL PAPER WITH THE CROWN AND FLEUR-DE-LYS WATERMARK (additionally, 1000 copies on Demy paper and 200 copies on General Royal paper were issued), IN THE "PRESENTATION" MOROCCO BINDING (a few copies are known in calf); half-title, royal Privilege leaf, engraved portrait by George Vertue after I.
