NEW YORK - COLONIAL] Two Hugh Gaine printed volumes from the library of Russell Benedict , the first being session laws from December 1770 [New York: Hugh Gaine, 1771]. New York historian William Smith's signed copy, Half red morocco gilt. Pages 731-818. Benedict bookplate (, his sale 1922). One page imperfect, lacks final leaves, stamped. Evans 12154; the second being session laws from January 1771-1775 [New York: Hugh Gaine, 1772-75]. Later half morocco, uncut, pages 739-822 (with imprint), 105-180. Benedict bookplate (, his sale). Stamps, stains, binding defective Evans 12194; Together with Journal of the Votes and Proceedings of the General Assembly of the Colony of New York. Began the 9th day of April, 1691; and ended the 27th of September, 1743. Vol. I. New-York: Hugh Gaine, 1764. First edition. Volume I only. Contemporary calf, lacks upper board. 14 1/4 x 9 1/4 inches (37 x 24 cm); 840, [2] pp. (with the Act of Parliament leaf reversing the Attainder of Jacob Leisler and others, who were excuted in 1690). Stamped. Evans 9756; Sabin 53719; Three Gaine printed session laws 1772-75, each uncut, two in 20th century cloth, one stitched and housed in a cloth box, these bearing several signatures of John Davies The 1772 volume paginated 823-[949, with imprint]; the 1774 volume headed Volume III and paginated 1-[80, with imprint]; the 1775 volume lacks first and last leaves which are provided in facsimile, remains paginated 83-200. Stamps, wear; And two related volumes, being 1763/64 session acts printed by W. Weyman, paginated 269-353 (with imprint). Black cloth.
