[NEW YORK CITY] VALENTINE, D.T. Manual of the Common Council of New York, 1841-1870. New York: various printers, 1842-1870, with three index volumes dated 1906. Together 35 volumes (including a few duplicates and the indexes). Mostly original cloth bindings, the first volume in original printed boards, a few in contemporary half morocco. Sizes vary. Generally worn with some detached covers, splits and tape repairs to maps and plates, a few with stamps or marking, not fully collated and sold as is. A rare chronologically complete run of Valentine's Manual, a wealth of maps, plates and information about the growing city during the 19th century. The earliest volumes, printed in a small format from 1842-1848, are scarce. No volume was published in 1867. We trace few long runs at auction. C Estate of Leo Hershkowitz
