Condition: Scattered minor foxing, tear to A8 along the margin of the text, light dampstaining affecting the terminal 4 leaves of the Index in the rear; small circular defect on the upper cover, short tear at the head of the backstrip, bump to the bottom edge of the upper cover. Overall in lovely condition. Provenance : James Parker 1725-1770; Robert R. Livingston, 1746-1813 (signature and inscription on the title page, “Robt R. Livingston, Junr being presented to him by James Parker Esq 1772”). first edition of an important compilation of the founding laws of new jersey. Leaming and Spicer's edition of New Jersey’s colonial laws includes the Lord Proprieters’s founding documents of the colony and the session laws through 1702. At the time of publication, it was the largest book from Bradford’s press. One hundred and seventy copies were produced for subscribers and probably fewer than three hundred in all. this copy with esteemed new york provenance, belonging to famed colonial printer james parker and patriot robert livingston .
