First editions (except part 1 in 2nd ed.) of this historical work on the United Provinces of the Netherlands by the Swiss theologian and biblical scholar Le Clerc (1657-1736). He settled in Amsterdam in and became professor of philosophy, literature and Hebrew at the Remonstrant seminary. Engr. ill.: 2 allegorical front. after G. de Lairessee (vol. 2), by A. Bloteling (vol. 3), large folding pl. by D. Marot titled "La grande sale d'audience de La Haye", double-page folding map ("Carte des Provinces Unies des Pays Bas") and numerous in-text ill. in 4th part (some full-page) depicting medals and coins.
