NAVAL HISTORY, U.S.S. CONSTITUTION]. A group of six partly printed documents relating to the supply and equipping of the U.S. Frigate Constitution , signed by various suppliers, all from Henry Jackson, U. S. Naval Agent. All Boston, 3 August, 18 September, and 24 September, 1798. All 1 page, oblong 4to, accomplished in manuscript, each with decorative typographical border along left-hand edge. Authorized by Congress on 27 March 1794, the Constitution was designed by Joshua Humphreys, built in Edmund Hartt's shipyard at Boston, and was launched 21 October 1797. The receipts are all for supplies for the warship; included are documents signed by Ephraim Thayer ($2,201.49 "for making gun carriages, engines and sundry work"); Timothy Hall ($100 "for 800 cannisters for the canonades"); James Russell ($500.50 "for a blank receipt book"); Thomas Bradlee ($378.53 "for sundries supplied"); David Cobb ($1406.12 "for sundry iron work for gun carriages, guns"); Cobb. A duplicate of the preceding. Together 6 items . (6)
