Gen. Sir Howard Place: London Publisher: Thomas & William Boone Date: 1832 Description: [4], 101, xxiii, 16 pp. 10 engraved plates, 2-sided folding facsimile plate. (8vo) 8¾x5½, green moiré cloth with printed paper lettering piece. First Edition. Sir Howard Douglas (English, 1776-1861) had a long, varied, and distinguished career. A military man, politician in England, educator, Governor of New Brunswick, author of a number of important military and naval works. This copy inscribed and signed by the author to his daughter, Mary. Lot Amendments Condition: Some wear to spine ends and corners; moderate scuffing to covers; text mostly unopened, about very good.
