Berlin: Real-Scul-Buchhandlung, 1757-1758. 3 parts in one volume, 2° (343 x 205mm). Three letterpress titles, 2pp. 'Avertissement' dated October 1756, 4pp. index to 'Centuria I'. 300 nature-printed plates printed in black, all with letterpress caption printed within a rocaille cartouche printed in red (287) or green (13). (Plate 18 in the third part with tattered margins, plates 25 and 41 in the same part with cartouches but no caption, lacking the 4pp. index to the third part.) Provenance : B. Burg (Eltville, ink stamp). VERY RARE: only one copy is listed as having sold at auction in the past twenty-five years. The attractive plates are printed directly from the original specimens. 1,000 plates were planned, but publication ceased after the appearance of the first three centuriae.
