London: Macmillan and Co., 3 January 1942 - 26 December 1964 and 7 January 1972 - 26 December 1991. 143 bound volumes plus a quantity of unbound issues in original wrappers, 8° (252 x 183) and 4° (280 x 210), comprising volumes 149-204 and 235-354. (A few volumes defective lacking a couple of issues, a couple of volumes with issues loose, a few issues in photocopy facsimile, one volume with adverts defective.) The majority bound in either purple or maroon cloth (spines slightly faded to earlier vols).

A Structure for Deoxyribose Nucleic Acid', Vol. 171, 1953, pp 737-741, and Farman, Gardiner & Shanklin's 'Large Losses of Total Ozone in Antarctica Reveal Seasonal CIO/NO Interaction', Vol. 315, 1985, pp.207-210, the first paper to reveal the extent of the hole in the ozone layer over the South Pole. In addition to the longer review articles, book reviews, news and obituaries, the run CONTAINS THE FIRST PUBLICATION OF OVER 15,000 SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES and stands testament to the growth, diversification and development of science, not only in Britain, but throughout the world, during the latter part of the 20th-century.
