Natural History.- GOULD, John & RICHTER, H.C. Four Framed Lithograph Prints by Hallmandel & Walton (ca.1843-1863). each print, a hand-coloured lithograph, titled, with inscriptions J. Gould and H.C. Richter, del et lith. and Hullmandel & Walton, Imp. comprising: AULACORAMPHUS CASTANEORHYNCHUS. depicted a pair of toucans, an illustration from Gould's 'A Monograph of the Ramphastidae, or Family of Toucans', 525 x 396mm within cream card mount, 675 x 503mm overall; GRYPUS NAEVIUS. depicted a group of three humming birds by a nest, an illustration from Gould's 'A Monograph of the Trochilid, or Family of Humming-Birds', 518 x 350mm within green gilt ruled cream mount, 726 x 544mm overall; COMETES PHAON. depicted a group of three humming birds with red and black tails perched on a pink orchid, illustration from Gould's 'The Birds of Great Britain', 531 x 375mm within gilt ruled cream mount, 785 x 620mm overall; HYPUROPTILA BUFFONI. depicted a group of three humming birds, two of which are taking nectar from the flowers, Illustration from Gould's 'A Monograph of the Trochilid, or Family of Humming-Birds', 518 x 375mm within gilt ruled cream mount, 788 x 630 overall, all within glazed gilt frames. John Gould (1804-1881) was an English ornithologist, who published numerous monographs on birds, illustrated by plates produced by his wife, Elizabeth Gould and other artists, including Henry Constantine Richter (1821-1902) an English zoological illustrator. Qty. (4). Condition Report: 1. AULACORAMPHUS CASTANEORHYNCHUS - the print clean and bright with marginal foxing, marks to glaze, gilt frame scuffed and chipped (with some loss to gilt in places). 2. GRYPUS NAEVIUS - the print has slipped within the mount, clean and bright with toning to edges, marks to glaze, gilt frame scuffed and chipped (with some loss to gilt in places). 3. COMETES PHAON - the print clean and bright, the frame with light scuffs and a few chips. 4. HYPUROPTILA BUFFONI - the print clean and bright, marks to glaze, gilt frame scuffed and chipped (with some loss to gilt in places). Condition Report Disclaimer
