NAPOLEONIC WARS: CAPTURE OF THE CAPE OF GOOD HOPE The Dutch Government, having not only rejected…the proposals…that the Settlement should place itself under the protection of Great Britain…(and) having acted in a manner demonstrative of such hostile disposition towards us…The Admiral and myself concurred in thinking it expedient to prevent the execution of his purpose, by landing ourselves, and taking possession of the place…, a collection of excellent and lengthy front page reports from Vice-Admiral Sir George Elphinstone, and Major Generals Clarke and Craig, all pertaining to the invasion and capture of the Cape of Good Hope, a Dutch colony, that became the enemy of the British during the Napoleonic Wars after becoming vassals of the French, includes the articles of capitulation, and lists of killed and wounded -- 183 cm. of column space, page 1 columns 1-3, and page 2, columns 1-2, in a complete and origianal issue of THE LONDON EVENING POST, for 26 November, 1795.
