NAPOLEON I. Letter signed ('Napol') with autograph correction, to the Count of Cessac, Paris, 3 February 1813 , referring to conscription for the completion of the cavalry, declaring that Cessac has asked authority for too many, demanding precise figures, giving the different regiments affected and discussing the quotas of horses, written on a bifolium, 2½ pages, 4°, one word, 'diminution', cancelled and 'augmentation' added in autograph on the first page, '439' inscribed in upper left corner. A letter characteristic of Napoleon's close attention to the details of advance planning. 'Je voudrais que dans le nombre de 13,260 on comptoit tout ce qui existe au Dépôt; cela pourroit faire une augmentation de 4000 hommes environ, en sorte qu'il n'y en auroit plus que 14,000 a fournir... En supposant que le nombre d'hommes fut trop considerable pour être pris sur la levée de 1814 on pourroit les compter sur la conscription de 1815 que je suppose être levée au mois de fevrier 1814'. The Count of Cessac was Minister for the Administration of the War.
