(10 x 8 in.), integral address leaf with two red wax seals with green silk ribbons, slight wear at folds , in French. A letter to the Queen of dismembered Prussia, just after the disastrous failure of the Russian campaign, reaffirming his devotion to the King and Queen: "I am greatly moved by the remarks of interest your Majesty has wished to give me on the coming of the New Year, and of my return [from Russia] to my family. Your Majesty must be aware of the complete reciprocity of my sentiments to him. All that he can wish is the object of my desires, and it is to this effect that I wish to renew to him assurance of the consideration and the perfect friendship which I enjoy from you both..." -- MARIE LOUISE, Empress of France . Autograph letter signed to her nephew Le Grand Duc de Berg, Paris, 15 April 1812, 1 page, 8vo, with original envelope with wax seal , in French, sending birthday greetings and promising to send a box of toys.
