Napoleon Bonaparte, Emperor of France (1769-1821), Letter signed, dated January 3rd [1806], one page, as Emperor, in French, to his cousin and Josephine's son, Eugene de Beauharnais, requesting his presence in Munich as soon as possible, 8 3/8 by 6 1/2 in., (very good to excellent). Together with documentation from the Library Auguste Blaizot. Translated text: My Cousin, Twelve hours at latest after the receipt of this letter will set off to Munich in all possible haste. Take care to arrive as soon as possible; then you may still find me there. Leave your command with whichever of your divisional generals you consider most capable and honest. It will be useless for you to bring a large suite. Leave at once, incognito, as much to avoid danger as to avoid delays. Send me a courier to announce to me that you will be arriving twenty-four hours after him.
