NAPOLEON BONAPARTE (1769-1821) Letter signed ("Bonaparte"), headed ("Bonaparte Gènèral en Chef de l'Armèe d'Italie") to General Haller, Army Finance Administrator, one page, folio, engraved vignette heading of Appiani, from his headquarters at Passeriano, 18 September 1797. [Translation:] "I have received your letter of 28th Fructidor with the order concerning C. Trizzo, Contrarini and Giovanelli. It is such a delicate matter that I could not take a decision at once. The Officers have received no pay since Thermidor and the solders since Fructidor. Business in Genoa is perfectly normal. I expect that you have taken all necessary steps for the Convention to be settled with the Cisapline Republic. See if you can increase our resources by selling La Mezzala."
