(10 5/8 x 7 in.), original cloth boards, rebacked in black morocco, board edges worn . Third edition, first issue, PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY THE COMPOSER on the title: "À mon excellente amie Madame Des Michels, souvenir de ma profonde et respectueuse amitié Ch. Gounod". Lithographed title, list of cast and musical scenes (1 leaf), 248 pages piano-vocal score, arranged by Leo Délibes and E. Perier. Faust was first performed, as an opéra comique with spoken dialogue, on 19 March 1859 at the Théâtre Lyrique in Paris. The piano-vocal score was first published in 1860. Loewenberg 939.
