MOZART, Carl Thomas (1784-1858). Autograph letter signed ('Carlo Mozart') to the Milanese publisher Tito di Giovanni Ricordi, Salzburg, 27 August 1856, in Italian, asking him to send two pieces for piano to him in Salzburg, care of Cavaliere Giovanni de Finetti, namely 'La Dans [sic] des Fées di Taell' and 'Carnevale di Venezia di Schulhoff', promising to settle the bill on his return to Milan, two pages, 4to , integral address leaf (seal tear), dockets. Provenance : International Autographs, catalogue 11, no.30.

Provenance : International Autographs, catalogue 11, no.30. THE LAST SURVIVING MOZART AT HIS FATHER'S CENTENARY IN SALZBURG. Carl Mozart attended the centenary celebrations for his father, which took place in Salzburg from 6 to 9 September 1856, as the last surviving member of the family, his mother having died in 1842 and his younger brother Franz Xaver in 1844. Carl had lived in Italy since 1797, moving to Milan in 1805, where he initially studied music under Bonifazio Asioli, before abandoning his studies in 1810 to become an official in the service of the Viceroy of Naples in Milan. Like his brother, he died unmarried.
