MORSE, SAMUEL F.B. Autograph letter signed ("M") to Catherine A. Pattison, New York, 22 October 1836. 4 pages, 4to, clean partial fold separations, otherwise fine . A LOVING COUNSEL ON LIFE. Morse praises Catherine's "beauty, artless disposition, and native good sense," and her "unsuspicious, confiding nature." He writes: "I can only liken the concern with which you have inspired me when I see you just entering into Society, to that which one feels on seeing a beautiful young fawn fearlessly gambolling on the borders of a forest where its natural enemies of every kind lurk ready to seize it." In closing, Morse gives spiritual advice: "If you have Him, for a friend who outlasts all friends; if in every case of trouble or doubt you can at your evening and morning devotion tryly and sightly ask advice of Him, you are indeed safe from all real danger."
