Beschreibung:

Monumental Hanukkah lamp, for synagogue. [Poland / Italy, 19th century]. Cast and engraved brass. Large Hanukkah lamp. The central column is made of bulges and knobs. At the top of the bottom third of the column are six removable decorations (of two different kinds) designed as flowers and leaves. At the top half of the Hanukkah lamp are four curved arms spread to the sides. Between them are flower and leaf decorations. Screwed to the end of the arms are oil fonts, surmounted by a small bowl with pinched edges. An identical lamp is found in the collection of the Jewish Museum in New-York, described as an Italian lamp. See: Luminous Art – Hanukkah Menorahs of The Jewish Museum (edited by Susan L. A few restored pieces of brass (measuring 5-10 cm each) on the right arms (including two oil fonts, a flower decoration and some leaves). Soldering repairs. The bowls surmounting the oil fonts may be a later addition.
