Later purple morocco gilt, blue morocco doublures with elaborate gilt border, silk liners, g.e. Provenance : PRESENTATION COPY from Henry Monnier to M. Lesourd (signature); Docteur Lucien-Graux (red morocco book-label). AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED FROM MONNIER TO LEVAVASSEUR TIPPED-IN, 1 November 1834, 1p, 8vo, integral address leaf. Cf. Carteret III, p. 416. LONGUS. Daphnis et Chloé ou les pastorales de Longus. Paris: C. Lahure for Leclere, 1863. 8° in 4s (195 x 118mm). Half-title, title in red and black with engraved vignette, index (1 leaf), engraved title, engraved section-title and head- and tail-piece to each of the four books by De Longueil after Eisen and Wille. (Single spot affecting last six leaves.) Contemporary red morocco gilt, covers with elaborate floral borders and centrepiece, spine in six compartments with floral tools, lettered in one, silk liners and doublures, g.e.
