Early edition of Molza's poetry containing a notable lament on Rome, the city where the poet lived an unbridled life, though he died in his native Modena in 1544. Given voice by the poet, Rome condemns the outrages and ravages inflicted by the Spanish and German invaders of the early 16th century. Another lament is devoted to the premature death of Giovanni de'Medici, known as Giovanni dalle Bande Nere, the great Captain of Fortune who was about to raise an army to fight the Spanish. In an amusing intermezzo Molza curses those who recommended him a sordid hotel, populated by old prostitutes. Other topics of the poems are cake and winter. Not in the standard bibliographies.
