Cartouche on left side of stock in script "JSA" over "1900" in box. Firing proof marking behind triggerguard, "P" in circle. Blue barrel, barrel bands, trigger, triggerguard and buttplate. Mottled gray to blue receiver. Walnut stock and handguard. Condition: This is an outstanding specimen of a Model 1898 Krag rifle. The barrel, barrel bands, trigger, triggerguard and buttplate retain most of the original blue finish. The stock and handguards are excellent with very few minor nicks. The markings, cartouche and firing proof are very sharp and crisp. Bore is bright and shiny with strong rifling.
