.69 caliber, 42" round barrel secured by 3 flat barrel bands, nsn. Bright finish, walnut stock. Lock with three-line Harpers Ferry mark behind hammer, dated 1849. Barrel tang dated 1846. Breech with the V / P / Eagle head proof marks. Rifled bore with correctly modified ramrod for use with elongated ball ammunition. Includes post-CW modified leather sling and French AN IX pattern socket bayonet. Condition: Good to very good. Mostly smooth metal with a layer dried grease or oil over most of the surfaces, and some lightly scattered pinprick pitting. Mechanically functional, good bore is dirty with strong rifling. Stock solid with bumps and dings, no visible cartouche on counterpane. Appears to be a Springfield produced rifled-musket with a Harpers Ferry lock.
