Grand in-4 (316 x 256 mm). 4 cartes coloriées et 61 planches lithographiées d'après John Gerrard Keulemans et finement coloriées et rehaussées, 19 illustrations en noir dans le texte. Percaline brune originale de l'éditeur, titre doré sur le plat supérieur dans un double filet doré en encadrement, dos lisse, tête dorée (petites éraflures). PREMIER TIRAGE, avec le nom de l'éditeur "R. H. Porter" en queue du dos. Les cartes montrent la répartition des espèces sur le continent australien, en Nouvelle-Guinée ainsi que sur les îles du Pacifique Sud. Cette très belle monographie décrit, pour la première fois, seize espèces scientifiquement. "The Parrots which constitute the family Loriidae are a very attractive group of rather small birds...
