MISSAL, Use of Sarum -- Missale ad usum ecclesie Sariburiensis . Rouen: Richard Hamilton for Robert Valentin, 1554. 4° (196 x 141mm). Printed in red and black in double column, gothic letter, with musical notation. Valentin's woodcut device on title and on colophon at end, woodcut illustrations and initials. (Lacking quires s-v 8, I 8 and K 6, and H 1 0, called for by Weale-Bohatta.) Contemporary English calf over wood boards, covers with medallion roll panel (rebacked, rubbed, clasps lacking). THE FIRST SARUM MISSAL PRINTED IN QUEEN MARY'S REIGN. Weale-Bohatta 1449; STC 16215 locates 7 copies (4 in Oxford libraries). PROCESSIONAL, Use of Sarum: Processionale ad usum insignis ecclesie Sarum . London: [J. Kingston and H. Sutton], 1555. 8° (196 x 130mm). Printed in red and black, Gothic letter, with musical notation throughout. Woodcut architectural border in four blocks, with two heads in architrave at top [McKerrow and Ferguson 38]. Woodcut initials. (Title soiled and laid down, worm hole through text from quire P onwards, worsening towards end, final leaves repaired at margins, last leaf tattered at lower margin and repaired at corner, without final blank). Modern green morocco gilt. STC 16245. (2)
