Lens) after Medina, subscribers list; front free endpaper detached, offset from portrait on title, mended tear in lower margin of plate 8 entering image, clean tear in page 151 (second series) entering, but not obscuring text, lower outer corner of page 123 torn without loss, page 341-2 misbound within subscribers list. Contemporary mottled calf, sprinkled red edges; rebacked with original title label laid down, corners torn. Brown cloth slipcase. First folio and first illustrated edition. The illustrations have influenced subsequent interpretations of Paradise Lost, and are discussed in the Riverside edition. A handsome, crisp copy.
