Middle East.- Frith (Francis) Sinai and Palestine, [second edition], 37 mounted albumen prints (c.160 x 230mm. or the reverse), including smaller print on additional title (143 x 115mm.), some foxing and spotting to text and mounts but images generally clean and rich in tone, bookplate of Wharton B. Marriott and letter from another Marriott presenting the book tipped in to front free endpaper, contemporary half morocco, leather to upper cover a little sunned, a.e.g., [Gernsheim Incunabula 195], folio, London, Glasgow and Edinburgh, William Mackenzie [1862]. ⁂ The first volume in the second, enlarged edition of Frith's Egypt, Palestine and Nubia, originally published in 1859. "The prints in this edition are of much stronger quality than those in the first edition having been gold-toned" (Gernsheim).
