Lithographed throughout, titles and contents lists, 320 FINE HAND-COLOURED LITHOGRAPHIC PLATES by Henry Leonard and Mary Anne Moor Meyer. (Some spotting, occasionally heavy.) Early-20th-century green morocco gilt, bound for Henry Arthur Johnstone, his monogram on the upper covers, pigskin doublures and liners, the front doublures with an impression from his bookplate (dated 1899), t.e.g. Provenance : H. A. Johnstone. FIRST EDITION, a combination of first and second issues."With the possible exception of Lord Lilford's Birds , this is the finest and most complete atlas of portraits of British avifauna (with their eggs) ever published" (Wood).
