MEXICO--United States Treaty.] Tratado de paz, amistad, límites y arreglo definitivo entre la República Mexicana y los Estados-Unidos de America . - Esposicion dirigida al supremo gobierno por los comisionados que firmaron el tratado de paz con los Estados-Unidos .Querétaro: J.M. Lara, 1848. 2 parts in one, 8 o (228 x 149 mm). Printed in double-column with facing English and Spanish. Modern calf, original wrappers bound in. FIRST EDITION. With the signing of this treaty, Mexico lost 55 of its territory. The treaty was signed at Querátaro on 2 February 1848 and was transmitted to the United States Senate by President Polk in a message of 22 February. After various amendments, it was consented by the Senate on 10 March 1848. "The Esposición at the end of the 2 February text written by the hard pressed Mexican signatories in defense of the cession of California and New Mexico to the United States, has continuous signatures with the Tratado, and though it has a separate imprint is part of the Tratado" (Streeter sale I:281).
