Author: Ellicott, Andrew Place: Philadelphia Publisher: W. Ross Date: 1798 Description: 91 pp. 20.7x13.5 cm. (8¼x5¼"), removed from larger volume, with remains of stitching on spine. First Edition. Presidential message based on reports by Andrew Ellicott a surveyor commissioned by George Washington in 1796 as the U.S. representative on the commission for the survey of the border between the Spanish territories in Florida and the United States negotiated in the Treaty of San Lorenzo. Ellicott traveled with a military escort via the Ohio and Mississippi rivers and worked together with Spanish commissioners, despite many difficulties, for the next four years. Evans 34801. Lot Amendments Condition: Title-page with some soiling and staining, old rubberstamp of Charles N. Hagner, ink "No. 16"; light to moderate foxing within, some staining towards rear; about very good.
