North Hants’, together with Royal Life Saving Society Medal, bronze, reverse inscribed, ‘H. Orford, July 1937’, Army Rifle Association Medal, bronze, reverse inscribed, ‘Best Shot E.M.R.T. October Squad 1938 5885107 Pte. H. Orford’, and Northamptonshire Regiment Medal, bronze, reverse inscribed, ‘5335107 L. Cpl. H. Orford, 1939’, and his Army Council condolence slip in the name of ‘L./Cpl. H. G. A. Orford’, extremely fine (5) £60-80 Footnote Harold George Alfred Orford died on active service sometime between 23 May and 1 June 1940, while serving in the 2nd Battalion, Northamptonshire Regiment. The son of Major Harold Orford, late R.A.O.C., and Elizabeth Orford of Smeeth, Kent, he was 21 years of age and is buried in the Maroeuil Communal Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France.
