MCC TEAM 1927-28, a minature cricket bat signed on the face by fifteen members of the touring side to South Africa. This test series was the 12th to have taken place between England and South Africa. The series was closely matched with England winning the first two test's and South Africa coming back to win the last two after a draw in the third match. The original Captain G. R. Jackson of Derbyshire had to pull out after illness and was replaced by army Captain R. T. Stanyforth. The team chosen was missing many stars of the day such as Larwood, however, it was still considered to be strong enough to beat the South Africans.
