Contemporary purple half calf (spines faded and scuffed, some joints cracked). Provenance : Frederick DuCane Godman (armorial bookplate). FIRST EDITION. The Botanist was accompanied by "The Guide or General Introduction to the Science of Botany", and the "Dictionary". These were issued with each number, and were intended to form "separate treatises, apart from the body of the work".
