Folio, 320 x 206 mm., contemporary blindstamped pigskin over wooden boards with brass catches and clasp (lacks one); upper inner joint cracked, lower hinge tightened, hole on 4H2 (crossing six lines of text and affecting approximately 8 words), some lower margins wormed on final three leaves. An expanded edition, includes Mattioli's Latin translation of Dioscorides, with "De ratione distillandi aquas ex omnibus plantis..." at end, with printer's woodcut device on title and at end and over 1200 woodcuts in text (over 300 new woodcuts appearing for the first time).
