ON THE FRENCH TRANSLATION OF DAS KAPITAL . Collet is under a misapprehension: 'I gave myself the pleasure to send you the first series of livraisons -- and shall of course do so with regard to the subsequent ones -- of the French translation of "Das Kapital" as a token of my personal friendship for you. But I have nothing whatever to do with the sale of the book'; if Collet's acquaintances wish a copy, they should enquire through the French booksellers in London. Marx does however send a second copy of the first livraison to be passed on to David Urqhuart, whose address he had not known. For David Urqhuart see note to letter of 25 Jan 1863. The French translation of Das Kapital , by Joseph Roy, was published between 17 September 1872 and November 1875, not entirely to Marx's satisfaction.
