.22 R.F. caliber, 28" octagonal barrel, S/N 21939. With matching numbers throughout. The left side of the frame is marked with the Marlin name, address and patent dates, as well as Ballard's patent date. The top flat panels of the frame are engraved with scrolls and a heart pattern border. The sides of the frame also feature detailed scroll engravings with a heart pattern border, with the left side featuring an engraved deer in a circle, and the right side featuring an engraved buck in a circle. With a folding Beech combination front sight and a sliding peep tang sight. Forearm with deluxe wood and checkering, with tapered horn forend. Deluxe wood pistol grip stock with horn wedge, checkering and a crescent buttplate. This is a unique 3F because while it has the usual lever and stock/forearm, it does not have a groove in the top of the frame, and it lacks the Swiss buttplate. It has the typical engravings found on the No 6 and 6 1/2 frames. It has the typical and correct plunger type extractor. Condition: The barrel has a mostly dark to dark plum patina. The frame has crisp engravings, with some small areas of staining to the frame, lever and buttplate. The wood has some slight handling marks, and is in good to very good condition. The bore and action are excellent.
