(25.4x20.3cm.) ; the correspondence sent by Callas from various cities around the world including Verona, Mexico City, London and Chicago give an interesting perspective on the Diva's frantic schedule during what is generally regarded by critics as her 'golden' decade, in her letters and notes she generally discusses her recent performances and broadcasts and plans for future concerts; in a postcard written by the singer en route to Mexico City, dated 23rd May, 1952 she tells him [in translation] ...My programme in Mexico has been rather varied this year: Puritani, Traviata, Lucia, Rigoletto, Tosca. The result was indeed a triumph, but it was in Lucia that the enthusiasm reached a point that, I have been told, had never been reached before in Mexico City! I myself could not understand why the audience would not stop applauding... ; in an autograph letter, signed, sent six months later from London on Savoy Hotel London headed paper, November 12th, 1952, Callas wrote [in translation] ..Greetings from London, where I am full of enthusiasm for the success of "Norma"... 1p. with corresponding envelope; the collection contained in an album
