MAPS -- A collection of 48 hand-coloured engraved and woodcut maps of the 16th- to the 19th-century by Tommas Porcacchi from L'isole piu famose del mondo (21 maps), Sebastian Münster from Cosmographia (6 maps from Latin and French editions) and 21 others by, inter alios , Ptolemaeus (3), Bellin (2) and Jeffreys (2). 300 x 213mm. diminishing to 126 x 210mm. All loosely mounted with typed descriptions, rexine folder. 10 of the maps are of American interest including Hispaniola and Cuba by Porcacchi; the remainder are of Europe including 17 of Greece and its islands by Porcacchi. With a further collection of 18 engraved and woodcut maps of the 16th- to the 18th- century by Bellin (5 maps), Ptolemaeus (3), Moll (3), Münster (2), Vaugondy (2), Bowen (1), Jefferys (1) and Sanson (1). 328 x 206mm. diminishing to 185 x 240mm. All loosely mounted with typed descriptions, rexine folder. Includes 9 of American and Caribbean interest with Ptolomaeus' map of Hispaniola and Moll's Jamaica.
