Northern France (likely Paris): second quarter of the fifteenth century. 13 lines of text on each page (starting with the third Office, "Sancta Dei Genitrix..."); written in Latin on uterine vellum in a fine textura quadrata in dark brown and gold, recto with an inhabited initial "S"; with full illuminated borders of ivy and acanthus (both recto and verso), these containing historiated roundels pertaining to the life of St. Alexis. Leaf 7 5/8 x 5 5/8 inches (195 x 145 mm), text ruled in red. A very fresh and attractive leaf from a luxurious manuscript, archivally framed. C
