Title: Manuscript Document warning one Benjamin Pettis to leave the town of Norwich Author: ** Place: Norwich, CT Publisher: Date: April 8, 1751 Description: 11 lines, in ink, with additional warnings on the verso. On sheet 12x19 cm. (4¾x7¾"). The Selectmen of Norwich, Connecticut, want no part of the interloper from their neighboring town 15 miles to the south, "To Benjamin Pettis Late of Groton in New London County. We being made to understand that you have lately Come into our Town of Norwich & now Reside therein, these are therefore in His Majesties Name to warn you forthwith to Depart out of our Sd. Town of Norwich, with all under you Care, & no longer to reside therein..." On the verso is a note to the Justice of the Peace of Norwich Isaac Huntington, dated 4 months later, informing him that said Pettis was still in town, and he should be "Dealt with as [the] law demands...", along with related notations.
